  • Powerful Women

Have you ever wondered about herstory?
    Powerful women and battles fought.
For you and me both to live in this society,
Freedom and choice we’ve come a long way.
In this unjust world we live today,
Some women feel unworthy and suppressed,
    Dominated by rules and culture
    Knowing nothing else.

    Wondered about herstory?
    Powerful women fighting battles
    For you and me both
    In this unjust world
    Women feel unworthy
    Dominated by rules and culture
    Knowing nothing else.

    Women are powerful.
Believe in ourselves to change history
Search your soul, follow your guide.
Make a Difference filled with pride
    Breakdown your barriers and phobias
Our battle has only just begun.
    Women together united we stand
    Powerful as we’re one.
    Changing history to herstory
    Believe in ourselves
Search your soul, follow your guide.
    Powerful as we’re one
    Powerful as we’re one
    Powerful as we’re one

  • Her Song

She lay there sleeping in the moonlit night

His body aching as he held her so tight

He whispered softly, "Don't leave me my friend"

He didn't know that this was her end.

    Chorus

    I'm coming, I'm coming

    To save you my friend

    Your pain is great

    Don't let your life end.

Her body lay there as lifeless as could be

Her spirit floating, cause she had set it free

Released from her pain of a broken heart

Would he realise he tore her life apart.

    Chorus

  • Beautiful Spirit (funked up)

    Oh spirit so free

Touching hearts of others to let them be

    Oh let yourself go

That beautiful spirit you may not know.

    I am spirit that flows

    Drawing energy from the earth

I leave a seed that grows inside you

Bearing the beauty of my soul.

    Oh spirit so free

Touching hearts of others to let them be

    Oh let yourself go

That beautiful spirit you may not know.

You create the windows of opportunities

You will always land on your feet

    Never fear yourself

As you have a powerful existence.

    Oh spirit so free

Touching hearts of others to let them be

    Oh let yourself go

That beautiful spirit you may not know.

That beautiful spirit you may not know.

  • Jim's Song

Me mama she gave birth to me on a property named Miamba

Bought with stock and bulls, mustering and Yalamba

Taken away tio boarding schools from 'Toowomba to the Coast

Me ma and pa proud folk then wanting to boast

Me schooling days weren't memorable, getting bullied and detentions

Hanging out with land dwelling crowd

Yearning to go back our intentions.

    Chorus

Cause you can't take the land away from me

It's the only place where I feel so free

Wouldn't you like to feel like me

To feel free, free, free, free.

A spoilt man getting everything married a Dutch girl and brought some land

The drought back in '64 sent us broke that wasn't the plan

With family in hand not making ends meat, living on bread and honey

A decision was made to head to town and drive taxis for some money

I became grateful and feel in love with the hand whom I took

Sher left her native land as she read it from a book

Our kids that have grown up their own paths thaey both led

Left us her to enjoy ourselves quality time indeed

One day she had headaches so off to the doctors she fled

He came out shortly afterwards, "brain tumor" he glumly said

My best friend my wife the love of my life

    parted from this land

12 years have gone but the pains still there

I long for her touch by her hand

When I was a younger bloke there was one love in my life

Boy, how things have changed but im glad I picked my wife

Still living in the family huse my memories sometimes a blurb

I've been longing for the day when I get to lay beside her.

My best friend my wife the love of my life

    parted from this land

12 years have gone but the pains still there

I long for her touch by her hand

Don't you want to be just like me

To feel free, free, free, free.

  • Forgotten Treasures

As the sun awakes and spills over the horizon

Birds rejoice the birth of a brand new morning

Trees eagerly await to receive the first rays

Leaves glisten and dance joyfully in the fresh breeze

They tower and their branches labyrinth with their unique tale

Listen closely you will hear the whispers of their stories:

We are your strength, yet rely on you

Standing tall we are observers of time

From seedlings we grow by the rays of the sun

Protect us so we can all live as one.

Birds soar above as they chatter of the sights seen

A whiptail sings as the sun caresses its feathers

Our observers of time are statements on the landscapes

Treasures filled with enchantment and wonder (whispers)

Yet it's our human hand which destroys them

With our fifth-ridden machinery which rapes their land

This cause of mass destruction leaves the land scarred

Who will admit to such atrocities, not me or you!

Yet in their place we build or graze

Our human statement is barren land and all those buildings

So who was listening to their song

Who was listening to their song

I ask, who was listening to their song

  • Loving You The Only Way I Can

Isn't life funny how it goes

I'm here by myself in the end

My girl she left me for another

She says, "a new love better than me."

I loved her deeply, I loved her forever

I loved her so much, I've lost a part of me

Now I feel like I'm doing time

to live with that thought of letting her go

Always thinking about what we had

the whole things so crazy it makes me sad

Love is a wonderful thing, so beautiful

Love's such a mystery, its got a hold of me.

Would you have let her go

Just like I may have done

Knowing she will never be back in your arms

I loved her deeply, I loved her forever

I loved her completely, I've lost apart of me

Wouldn't you like to feel like me

To feel free, free, free, free.

  • Radical Bay

    Save Radical Bay

It's up to us to make a stand and leave it, its natural way

Magnetic Island is a World Hertiage Park

North Queensland, Townsville is near this beautiful park

The developers, the capitalists want radical change

With a new marine, housing estate just a small range

The time is changing this tranquil place

Thanks to governments plan what a disgrace

They say its OK for developers to change Radical Bay

The layers involved always involved have something to say

Like 4 story blocks 100 unites on top

A restaurant a car park a family pool where will this stop

It will stop at us the people who care

The ones that know this development is very unfair

It rapes the land marine and wildlife too

If you care you'd make a stand like I do

Keep in mind Aussie developing for 200 years

The lands now stuff we develop more do we care?

    Save Radical Bay

  • You're My Shining Star

How much love can you give to a person

As they go through life and want a change

You’ve given yourself heart and soul

They’ve walked out and don’t even know

You’re my rainbow my shining star

I think of you where ever you are

If one star equals my love so true

The Universe I’d give to you

I should be angry or even jealous

My love is so strong I understand

Friends say I should met another

They could be right but I believe in you

You’re my rainbow my shining star

I think of you where ever you are

If one star equals my love so true

The Universe I’d give to you

Love is powerful, I'm glad its touched me

I know this is a moment in time

The hardest thing is living without you

I realise you maybe feeling it too

You’e my rainbow my shining star

I think of you where ever you are

If one star equals my love so true

The Universe I’d give to you

If one star equals my love so true

The Universe I’d give to you

  • Nga Iwi E

    (written by Hiri Tewhai)

This waiata (song) is about our belief in why we continue to pursuit this sojourn.

Nga Iwi E is in the language of New Zealand Maori.ᅠᅠThe song talks about coming together as one body, one voice one spirit.

Nga Iwi E  (Nar-e-wee) Your tribe, your community, your mob, your clan

Kia kotahi raᅠ  (key-a core-ta-he-ra) Come together as one body, one spirit, one voice!

Te moana-nui a kiwa  (T-more-wana newi a key-wa) How can this be possible, how can this be done?

    "Ki te mana motuhake
    Me te arhoha" "(Key-a te man-na more-two-ha-ki)

(Met te r-raw-ha)" This can be possible, this can be done through the power of love and the power of respect!

Wahine ma  (wa-hin-eee mar) The women

Maranga mai  (ma-rung-a my) speak out / call out

Tane ma (ta-nah mar) The men

Whakarongo - tautoku  (fuc-a-rong-or toe-took-or) listen and support

KIA KAHA  (KEE-A CAR-HA) "Be strong
Be proud of who you are
    And believe in yourself!"

  • The Storm

Waiting for the calm (I am)

    Waiting on the rain

    Waiting to be free

    Please please release me

A blanket of darkness fill the morning sky

Intense warmth builds in the still air

Thundering temper lashes as her fury builds

    Her only reason for frustration

    Her emotions are high high

The loved ones always in the firing line

    Please please forgive me!

Waiting for the calm (I am)

    Waiting on the rain

    Waiting to be free

    Please please release me

Sweet smell of teardrops fall from the heavens

My soul is cleansed and heart is purified

Morning to the clear, blue endless sky

Is the beginning or is it the end?

The love one she smiles again

She knows my thoughts like the waiting rain

    Please. please believe me!

Waiting for the calm (I am)

    Waiting on the rain

    Waiting to be free

    Please please release me
